I find my self interested in that which has been constructed, created or designed to be aesthetically pleasing. There are so many of these things, we all experience them on a daily basis. It is these common, everyday visual experiences that influence and inspire my art work. These particular paintings explore the architecture that surrounded me at the time of their conception. I work mainly in acrylic paint on canvas, charcoal and ink on paper. While I focus on the visual experiences of life, my work has been called unfashionably formal. I am concerned with formal compositional aspects; I work toward interesting and engaging surface qualities and a balanced composition. |
